Only Natural

Earth-mined. Untreated where we say so. Independently certified. Always.

Natural. Always.

There is no shortage of stones in 2026. Lab-grown diamonds are excellent at being diamonds, and the technology behind them is remarkable. But they are not what we sell. This page explains why.

A natural stone carries a place of origin and a billion years of history. That is the difference we build a house around.

What “natural” means here

When we say a diamond is natural, we mean it formed under the earth’s mantle over a billion years and was cut from rough. When we say a sapphire or emerald is natural, we mean it was mined, not synthesised in a chamber. When we say a stone is untreated, we mean its colour and clarity are exactly as nature finished them — no heat, no oil, no fracture-filling.

Most coloured stones on the market today have been treated to some degree. We disclose every treatment, when one exists, in writing.

“We choose stones the way a vintner chooses vines — for where they came from, and what only that place could make.”

Why it matters

Provenance

A natural stone has a place of origin. A Mozambican ruby, a Zambian emerald, a Kashmir sapphire — each carries the geology of a specific corner of the world. A lab stone, however beautiful, is a uniform product.

Value

Natural stones, well-chosen and well-documented, have historically held value over decades. Lab-grown prices have fallen roughly 70 percent in five years and continue to fall.

Rarity

There is a finite quantity of fine natural rubies, emeralds, and sapphires in the world. The very best stones go into private collections and rarely return to market. We deal in this universe.

Certifications we trust

  • GIA — Gemological Institute of America, the global standard for diamonds
  • IGI — International Gemmological Institute, diamonds and coloured stones
  • GRS — GemResearch Swisslab, coloured stones and origin reports
  • AGL — American Gemological Laboratories, coloured stones
  • SSEF & Gübelin — Swiss labs, for the most significant coloured stones

Every diamond at one carat and above is GIA- or IGI-certified. Important coloured stones come with origin reports from GRS, AGL, SSEF, or Gübelin.

Honest about lab-grown

If you want a lab-grown diamond, there are many excellent places to buy one. We won’t try to talk you out of it. We simply don’t carry them — the same way a vintner who specialises in Burgundy doesn’t carry table wine. Different things, both valid.
